Introduction

We value your privacy very highly. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the JustVM website at https://justvm.com, the JustVM web app, and the JustVM voicemail service (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by SendHawk, LLC, a limited liability company formed in North Carolina, United States ("us", "we", "our"). This Privacy Policy contains important information about your privacy and how we may use the information we collect about you.

JustVM is a personal voicemail service. A subscriber gets a JustVM phone number and usually sets it as their mobile carrier's conditional call-forwarding number. When someone calls, the caller hears the subscriber's greeting and may leave a message. We record, store, and transcribe that message, translate it into English if it is in another language, and notify the subscriber by email and, if they choose, by push notification.

Your access to or use of the Service is conditional upon your acceptance of and compliance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who wishes to access or use the Service, including visitors, subscribers, and others. It also describes how we handle information about people who call a JustVM number (see Information about callers).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of this Privacy Policy, you do not have our permission to access or use the Service. Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service.

What information we collect and store

We collect and store the information you enter into the Service, plus information generated when the Service handles calls for you. Specifically:

Account information

JustVM accounts are currently invite-only and are set up by us. For each subscriber we store:

• Name and email address
• Password, stored only as a one-way hash (we cannot see your password)
• Time zone and notification preferences
• The JustVM phone number assigned to you

Your greeting

The greeting callers hear, whether you record it, upload an audio file, or have it generated from text you type using text-to-speech.

Voicemail and caller information

When someone calls your JustVM number, we collect and store:

• The caller's phone number
• The caller ID name associated with that number, looked up through our telephony provider
• The time and duration of the call
• The audio recording of the message
• A transcript of the message and, if it is not in English, an English translation
• An automated classification of whether the call looks like spam or a hang-up

Push notification subscriptions

If you turn on push notifications, your browser gives us a push subscription endpoint and encryption keys for that device. We also store a label so you can tell your devices apart.

Cookies and sessions

When you sign in, we set a session cookie. See Cookies.

Server logs

Like most online services, our servers record basic request information, such as IP address, the time of the request, the page or API endpoint requested, and browser user agent. We keep these logs only for a short time.

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect your email address and nothing else.

Support email

If you email support@justvm.com, we keep your message, your email address, and anything else you choose to include.

How we use this information

We use the information above to:

• Provide the Service: answer calls, play your greeting, record, transcribe, and translate messages, and deliver them to you
• Send you email and push notifications about new messages
• Sort likely spam and hang-ups into your Spam/Hang-up folder
• Sign you in and keep your account secure
• Provide customer support and respond to your messages
• Invite people on the waitlist to create an account
• Detect and prevent security incidents, abuse, and fraudulent or illegal activity
• Enforce our Terms of Service and resolve disputes
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for marketing by third parties, targeted advertising, or advertising measurement.

Information about callers

This section is for people who call a JustVM number. If you called someone and reached their voicemail, you may have reached JustVM.

• Who controls your message. You are not a JustVM user, and we don't have a relationship with you. We process your phone number, caller ID name, and voicemail on behalf of the subscriber you called. The subscriber decides whether to keep or delete your message.
• Recording notice. Your message is recorded only if you choose to leave one after the subscriber's greeting. Subscribers are responsible for giving any recording notice the law requires, usually in their greeting, and for complying with call-recording laws that apply to them.
• What happens to your message. Your message is stored, transcribed, translated into English if needed, and sent to the subscriber by email and possibly push notification. It may also be automatically classified as spam or a hang-up.
• How long we keep it. See Data retention. In short, messages stay until the subscriber deletes them, and messages filed as Spam/Hang-up are deleted automatically after 30 days.
• Contact us. If you have questions or concerns about a message you left, email support@justvm.com. Because the message belongs to the subscriber's mailbox, we may need to involve the subscriber or verify your identity before acting on a request.

With whom we share your personal information

We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run JustVM, and only as needed for them to do that work. They are:

Push notification contents are encrypted end-to-end under the Web Push standard, so the push service can deliver a notification but cannot read what it says.

Our AI providers process data under their API terms. We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models.

We may also disclose personal information to government or law enforcement entities when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others.

If SendHawk, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

Sale of your information

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.

Data retention

• Messages are kept until the subscriber deletes them. Deleting a message also deletes its recording.
• Spam/Hang-up messages. Messages the Service automatically files as Spam/Hang-up are deleted automatically, with their audio, after 30 days, unless the subscriber moves them back to the inbox first.
• Account deletion deletes all of the account's messages, recordings, greeting, and settings.
• Backups. Our database keeps point-in-time recovery backups, so deleted data can remain in backups for up to 35 days before it rolls off.
• Server logs are kept only for a short time.
• Waitlist emails are kept until we invite you or you ask us to remove you.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on your device by your browser. Cookies are generally used to let websites respond to you as an individual, remember your preferences, and analyze your interactions with websites or advertisements.

JustVM sets one kind of cookie: a strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is marked HttpOnly, so scripts on the page cannot read it. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party trackers.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults and does not offer services to children. JustVM subscribers must be 18 or older. Should a child whom we know to be under 18 send personal information to us, we will use that information only to respond to that child to inform them that they cannot use the Service.

We cannot control who calls a subscriber's number. If you believe a child's voicemail should be removed, please contact us.

Analytics programs

We do not use third-party analytics programs on the Service.

Advertising and remarketing

We do not show ads on the Service, and we do not use advertising or remarketing services.

Security and spam prevention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. For example, all traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only as hashes, recordings are kept in private storage, and requests from our telephony provider are verified by signature.

To filter unwanted calls, the Service automatically classifies messages as possible spam or hang-ups. That classification uses the message transcript and call details and is performed by the AI model providers listed in With whom we share your personal information.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Sign in with Google

We plan to offer Sign in with Google. If you use it, we receive only your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) through the openid, email, and profile scopes. We use this information only to create your account and sign you in.

JustVM's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In particular, we do not:

• Use Google user data for advertising
• Sell Google user data
• Allow humans to read Google user data, except with your consent, for security purposes, or to comply with the law
• Use Google user data to train AI models

The rights of Nevada residents

All visitors and users of the Service have the right to opt out of sales of their personal information. As described above, we do not sell personal information.

Exercising your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to get a copy of it, and to opt out of its sale or its use for targeted advertising. Subscribers can view and delete messages and change their settings directly in the app.

We will need to verify your identity before acting on your request and may ask you to provide personal information to do so. Requests about a voicemail you left for a subscriber are handled as described in Information about callers.

Third-party websites

The Service may contain links to websites operated by parties other than us. We provide these links for your reference only. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their contents or their privacy or other practices. It is up to you to read and understand their privacy policies. Including a link does not imply that we endorse the material on that website or have any association with its operators.

Do Not Track

Do Not Track ("DNT") is a preference you can set in your browser to tell websites that you do not want to be tracked. We do not respond to DNT signals, but because we do not track you across websites, the setting makes no difference on JustVM. You can turn Do Not Track on or off in your browser's preferences or settings.
